Ontario university information is at your fingertips! This section of eINFO provides some helpful hints for making the most of the website.
Finding Programs
First, click the "Find a Program" link, located in the orange section at the top of the eINFO site. This link will let you begin your program search.
You have two options: search using the Program Wizard or browse using the Areas of Study Chart.
For quick results, use the Program Wizard.
-
Input your search criteria.
Use the drop-down box(es) to select your search criteria. You can select one or many search criteria - just remember that adding more criteria will narrow your search results. When you have selected all the necessary search criteria, click on the green "Search" button to get your results.
Search example: You want to find programs in engineering that offer co-op.
This example uses two search criteria - keyword and co-op option. First, use the drop-down box to select "Keyword". In the next box, type "Engineering" (be careful to spell it correctly!)
Next, click on the green "Refine Search" button. In the new drop-down box that appears, select "Co-op Option". Another box will then appear with your co-op options - "unavailable" or "available". Since you are looking for co-op, you would select "available".
Now that you have input your search criteria, select the green "Search" button to get your results.
Note: Each filter that you create is in addition to the others, so in the example above, the Wizard will be searching for both "co-op" and "engineering". It will only show programs that contain both words. If you wanted to view all co-op programs available as well as all engineering programs available, then you would have to do two separate searches.
-
Browse your search results and select your programs.
You will now see a list of programs that resulted from your search criteria. Scroll through the list and when you find a program that interests you, click on it to select it.
When you have finished selecting programs, click the green "Add" button in the middle of the screen. All your selected programs will be copied into the box on the far right. If you add a program by mistake, just click on it and then select the "Del" (Delete) button in the middle of the screen.
- Compare your selected programs.
When you are happy with your selections, go to the bottom of the screen and select the "Compare" button. The next screen will show additional details for each selected program and allow you to compare them. From this screen you can rate the programs, delete them, save them or view additional details.
-
View each program's details.
Once you have narrowed down your choices using the "Your Comparisons" screen, you should click on the green "More Details" button that is located below each program name. The next screen ("Details") will contain additional information that will help you decide whether this is the program or university for you.
If you are considering applying to any of these programs, you should record the OUAC program codes - you will need them to apply. One way of recording these codes is to save your searches and return to them later. You can save your search from the Program Wizard page or from the Compare page.
If you have time to browse, use the Areas of Study Chart.
Along the left of the Areas of Study Chart is a list of general areas of study in which Ontario's universities offer degrees. Along the top of the chart is a list of all Ontario's universities and their affiliates.
- Scroll through the chart to browse the study areas available.
It's important to check out a variety of options - there may be subjects listed that you would like, but haven't heard about!
- Highlight the degrees you wish to view or compare.
You can select an entire row or column, or you can select a few specific degrees. (To deselect a degree, row or column, just click on it again.) Remember, a university's "Accounting" program may be listed beside many other areas of study, such as "Economics", "Finance" or "Commerce".
- Compare your selected programs.
After you have highlighted the degrees that interest you, go to the left-hand side of the Areas of Study Chart and click on the button that says "Compare your highlighted programs side by side". The next "Compare" screen will show additional details for each selected program and allow you to compare them. From this screen you can rate the programs, delete them, save them or view additional details.

Finding Scholarships
Check out the scholarships that are available to you by selecting the "Searchable Scholarships" link at the top of the eINFO site.
On the Scholarships page, you can select search criteria from the available options, including university name, your expected average, and annual dollar value range. You can select one or multiple criteria. Click on the "Search" button to retrieve your results. Remember, the more criteria you include, the fewer results you will receive - each criterium narrows the list of results.
While grades are important, universities also offer many scholarships based on financial need, on community involvement or on school leadership. Make sure you perform several searches to find all the scholarships available to you.
Important Reminder
Check eINFO regularly as universities may make changes to their information throughout the year. For the most detailed program and course information, visit the universities' websites.
