University Information

University of Windsor

Special Characteristics
The university is located in the heart of the city of Windsor on the banks of the Detroit River and at the foot of the Ambassador Bridge leading to the United States. As Canada's most southern city, Windsor (population 218,000) enjoys a temperate climate, a vibrant economy and boasts a multicultural population. Windsor's unique international situation provides a special focus for academic and research activities, and means students can take advantage of the rich cultural, educational and recreational resources of Michigan as well as southwestern Ontario.

Size
UWindsor is a safe, urban campus covering approximately 51 hectares (125 acres) and comprises more than 50 academic, administrative and residential buildings. More than 500 faculty members teach in six undergraduate faculties, as well as the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, and the Faculties of Education, Law and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Dentistry is not offered at the Windsor campus). The university also maintains two libraries that contain over 2.1 million volumes.

Our Towns

  • Windsor is one of Canada's most ethnically diverse cities, with varied restaurants, friendly shops and ample cultural offerings just a quick walk, bike or bus ride away from campus.
  • The bustling metropolis of Detroit is right across the river. Take the Tunnel Bus to Detroit for an afternoon of shopping, a big concert or a professional hockey, baseball, football, or basketball game.
  • Our location at the intersection of North America gives our students the best of both worlds: a safe, small-town school with big-city amenities.
