Professional

U of T offers a 4-year program leading to a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Three years of university education (at least 15 full-year courses) required. Academic prerequisites include 1 full year course in general biochemistry, 1 full year course in general mammalian physiology course, 2 additional full year courses in life sciences and 1 full year course in humanities or social sciences course. Candidates also must submit Canadian Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) scores.

The Diploma in Digital Communication (CDC) helps students understand the best practices of social media, virtual worlds and emerging forms of online communication. Based on practical explorations of media theory, this program is ideal for students who want to pursue a career in digital communications. It's also geared towards students who want to augment their professional or academic pursuits with a powerful set of tools and competencies that include:

Diploma in Ethics

The Diploma in Ethics is a post-undergraduate program of study that may be completed full-time in 1 year or part-time over a number of years.

The Diploma in Ethics, offered through the University of Western Ontario, Department of Philosophy, is being offered as a response to a wide and growing interest in the ethical dimensions of professional and public life. The purpose of this program is to enable participants to strengthen and develop their understanding of ethics so as to enhance their ability to recognize and respond to ethical issues in a wide variety of social settings.

The Diploma in Ethics will educate students in the essential concepts, central issues, history, and methodologies of ethical reasoning. The program also emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills, writing skills and verbal skills.

Diploma in Management Studies

The Diploma in Management Studies is an 8-month professional, post-degree program in management. Students who successfully complete the Diploma in Management Studies course work are eligible to apply to a 4-month paid work placement and receive a Diploma in Management Studies with Work Placement. Brescia’s innovative Diplomas in Management Studies are ideal for students who have minimal or limited background in business studies, providing students with the opportunity to learn and apply the foundations of management.

Open to all students in the University, the Diploma in Professional Communication aims to develop students' writing abilities in workplace writing genres. All program courses may be credited toward other undergrad programs. A student who does not yet possess a university degree may apply for admission to the Certificate Program in Professional Communication, which can be taken concurrently with an undergrad degree.

Open to all students with a university degree, the Diploma in Writing aims to develop the general writing ability of students. All program courses may be credited toward other undergraduate programs. Anyone with a university degree may apply for admission, subject to prerequisites and general university entrance requirements. If you do not already possess a university degree, you may apply for admission to the Certificate in Writing, which can be taken concurrently with an undergraduate degree.

The Diploma in Business French is a 5.0 credit unique program in Canada which certifies that a student has reached a certain level of proficiency in French communication skills with an emphasis on French in the workplace and in business environments. .

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

University of Guelph

The Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph is a leader in veterinary health care, learning and research. This 4-year professional degree is accredited by the Canadian and American Veterinary Medical Associations.  

Entrance Information and Requirements:

  • - Completion of a minimum of 2 years of a university undergraduate degree program. Applications to DVM may be submitted during a student's third year.
  • - Completion of 8 university-level required courses: cell biology; biochemistry; genetics; statistics; 2 biological sciences; and 2 humanities and/or social sciences.
  • - Experience with veterinarians.
  • - Submission of a Background Information Form.
  • - Three letters of reference (2 must be from veterinarians).
  • - An interview.
  • - Canadian applicants, including dual citizens, must be residents of Ontario. A "resident" is someone who has resided in Ontario for 12 months, exclusive of time spent in a postsecondary institution.

Brock's Department of Teacher Education offers consecutive initial teacher education programs for those who already have a university degree. The programs are 4 semesters, taken over 2 academic years, and lead to a BEd degree and an Ontario Certificate of Qualification and Registration.

U of T offers two-year programs leading to a Master of Education (MEd), Master of Teaching (MT) or Master of Arts in Child Study and Education (MA CSE) degree. An undergraduate degree is required. Preference is given to those who have attained a high academic average in a 4-year degree program and to those with relevant experience.

The Faculty of Education and Academic Development offers the 2-year consecutive program in 1 of 3 possible divisions of teaching specialization in education leading to the Bachelor of Education degree and teacher certification by the Ontario College of Teachers. Completion of a university degree is required.

Our program has strong links with 4 local school boards, and you’ll spend at least 2 days each week in a Professional Development School (PDS) placement throughout the 2 years, in addition to your 5 block practicum placements. You’ll regularly link the theory you’ll learn in your university classes to the teaching experiences of your placements.

Consecutive Education (Primary/Junior)

This 16-month program prepares you to be an elementary school teacher (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6) with strengths in science, mathematics, literacy and technology.

Admission is based on an undergraduate degree from a recognized university, with a minimum required average of 70% ("B-" or 2.7 GPA) in best 10 full-year or best 20 half-year courses completed. Preference given to 4-year honours degrees.

Because Primary/Junior teachers deal with a wide range of subject areas, it is desirable that you have a broad academic background. In assessing the academic breadth of Primary/Junior applicants, the Faculty of Education gives preference to candidates who have 1 or more 3 credit hour (half-year) undergraduate or graduate courses in these subject groupings:

The Engineering Technology (BEng Tech) program prepares grads for the job market. It was developed for those who hold one of the following:
(a) a 3-year technology diploma from a Canadian college (or an equivalent overseas Institution)
(b) an engineering degree from an accredited Canadian university (or an equivalent overseas institution)
(c) a 4-year university degree in a scientific or technical subject from a Canadian University (or an equivalent overseas institution).
